Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
Charleston, WV (September 6, 2009) - The Greensboro Grasshoppers developed an early lead in the first two innings of Sunday night's contest at Appalachian Power Park and used the early runs to secure a 6-1 victory over the West Virginia Power.
Paul Gran and Isaac Galloway belted back-to-back doubles to start the contest. Galloway's double off the wall in left field allowed Gran to score and Galloway plated the final run in the first inning on Ben Lasater's base hit. Mike Pasek belted a two out single in the second inning and reached second base on a wild pitch before scoring on Gran's single.
West Virginia got their lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Austin McClune belted a double down the left field line and scored moments later on Brett Willemburg's two out single. During the next half inning, the Grasshoppers put the game out of reach when Jose Ceballos belted a three-run homer off of Diego Moreno.
Natividad Dilone (2-0) was outstanding for the Grasshoppers. He tossed five and two-thirds scoreless innings and allowed just a pair of hits while striking out six in a winning effort. Brian Leach (7-4) allowed three runs on six hits over five innings and was tagged with the loss. Despite the loss, Leach still finished the season on a strong note. Over his last 20 innings, he allowed just three runs on 11 hits.
West Virginia fell to 66-70 overall, and 39-27 in the second half after the loss, while Greensboro improved to 66-73 overall and 29-40 in the second half after the victory. Erik Huber turned in the only multi-hit game for the Power, going 2-for-4 with a pair of base hits. The bottom of the batting order recorded half of West Virginia's hits and combined to reach six times over 12 plate appearances.

The Power will start right hander Aaron Pribanic (3-2, 2.56) and the Grasshoppers will counter with right hander Sandy Rosario (3-1, 4.21). The first pitch will be delivered at 1:05 PM.
