Lexington Legends News Release
Brian Pellegrini broke the Lexington Legends career RBI record, and his 27th home run also started a Lexington comeback as the Legends beat the Bowling Green Hot Rods 7-4 in Bowling Green Sunday night.
The Legends were down 4-1 when Pellegrini connected on a solo shot in the sixth inning. The RBI was his 74th of the year, and the 143rd of his career as a Legend, breaking the record he had shared with Ramon German.
Lexington tied the game with two outs in the seventh inning when Albert Cartwright hit a two-run homer, his seventh home run of the year.
In the top of the eighth, Jay Austin led off with a ground rule double to left center field. Pellegrini was intentionally walked, and Eric Suttle beat out a bunt to load the bases. Marques Williams flied out to short center field as the runners held, but Freddie Hernandez singled home a run, and two wild pitches by Bowling Green reliever Jairo De La Rosa allowed two more runs to score, giving Lexington a 7-4 lead.
Michael Hacker (1-1) was the winning pitcher in relief. De La Rosa (0-1) was the loser.
The Legends will close the season tomorrow at Bowling Green. Game time is 2:05 p.m. Eastern time.
