Ports name Pat Filippone new president and partial owner

STOCKTON, Calif- The Stockton Ports are pleased to announce that Pat Filippone, former Fresno Grizzlies C.E.O., has been named the team's new president and partial owner effective July 10.
Filippone is currently in his third season with the Grizzlies (Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants), and in his first season as the team's C.E.O. after being named the club's president in September, 2003. Prior to Fresno, Filippone served as general manager of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the California League from 1998-2003. He began his executive career with the Prince William Cannons in 1991, where he was promoted from director of operations to vice president and general manager in a three-year period.
Well known for his ability to increase profitability, attendance and community involvement, Filippone is eager to join the Ports staff in their efforts to reach out to communities in the Greater Stockton area.
"I'm very excited to become a part of this team," said Filippone. "I'm excited for the potential that exists in this area and with this beautiful new facility."
While with the Grizzlies, Filippone played an instrumental role in helping the franchise turn a profit for the first time in Grizzlies history in 2004-05. He started the Grizzlies Community Fund, a non-profit corporation that has raised over $100,000 for local charities over the last two years. He looks to bring those same successes to Stockton in the years to come.
"The Ports are very visible in this community, and I hope to build on that foundation and exceed expectations in that regard," said Filippone.
"We are extremely fortunate to have Pat on board as the leader of this franchise," said Ports owner Tom Volpe. "His successes are well documented, and they show that the future of the Stockton Ports is in great hands."
Filippone is a graduate of Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and was named Carolina League Executive of the Year in 1997 and California League Executive of the Year in 2003.
