Bases Loaded Walk in Tenth Gives JetHawks the Win

June 22, 2006 - California League (CalL1)
Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - The series between the Lancaster JetHawks and the Modesto Nuts has seen a little bit of everything this year. That trend continued in the final game of the season between the two teams, played Wednesday night at Clear Channel Stadium.

Down by one run in the seventh, the JetHawks rallied behind a Mark Reynolds double and a Cesar Nicolas single to take the lead. Modesto, however, came back with three runs in the eighth to tie the game. Each team had a chance in the ninth, with the JetHawks loading the bases, but neither team scored. The JetHawks and the Nuts went into extra innings for the second straight night.

Modesto, trying to win in the tenth again, got runners aboard, but Dan Pohlman came up with a key strikeout to get out of trouble. Jereme Milons started the bottom of the tenth with a single and Emilio Bonifacio's single moved him to second. With two outs, Chris Rahl walked to load the bases. The count on Mark Reynolds went 3-2, but Reynolds took a slider low for ball four, earning the walk, and pushing across Milons with the winning run.

The JetHawks finish regular season play against Modesto having won five of the nine games.

The JetHawks head out for a three-game road trip Thursday against the San Jose Giants. Kellen Raab (3-7) goes to the hill for Lancaster against right handed pitcher Darren Sack (1-0) for the San Jose Giants. First pitch is at 7:00 p.m. with the Burns Pharmacy JetHawks Pre-Game Show on Magic 1340 AM and www.jethawks.com starting at 6:45 p.m.
