Ports Bringing Back Wing Fest
July 27, 2005 - California League (CalL1)
Stockton Ports News Release
The Stockton Ports announced the return of Wing Fest on Thursday, August 11th at Banner Island Ballpark. 2005 will mark the 2nd year of the Ports Wing Fest and is expected to draw double if not triple the businesses from the 2004 event.
There will be four Contest Categories this year for area wing businesses. Wing makers will be judged on Biggest Wings, Best Overall Wings, Hottest Wings and the Best Dipping Sauce or Dressing. Celebrity judges will once again take on as many wings as we provide them in making their choice of the Valley's Best.
T-Woody's won for Best Overall Wings and Hottest Wings in 2004, with Fats taking home the award for Biggest Wing. Other participating restaurants in 2004 included Outback Steakhouse, VIP Pizza, Kelly Bros Brewing, Wing Stop, the Valley Brew and Chili's.
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets and dip cups from the Ports, to be redeemed at the various tables around the ballpark that will be offering wings.
Adding even more spice to the event this season will be a Hot Wing Eating Contest for fans. All fans are encouraged to sign up for the event upon entering the ballpark at the Wing Sales Table on the Ports concourse.
Any and all businesses that are interested in featuring their wings at the Ports 2005 Wing Fest are encouraged to contact a Ports staff member at 209-644-1900 for details on how to participate.
