
JetHawks Out Duel Sixers in 5-1 Win

(San Bernardino, CA) - Matt Chico tossed six shutout innings as the JetHawks downed the Inland Empire 66ers 5-1 on Tuesday night at Arrowhead Credit Union Park. The win improves the JetHawks to 14-18 in the second half and 51-51 on the year.
Neither team was able to mount much offense over the first four innings. With the game scoreless into the fifth, the JetHawks plated three runs to take the lead. Danny Richar singled with one out. Phil Avlas and Erik Schindewolf also singled to load the bases. Jeff Cook lifted a sacrifice fly to center to score the first run. Stephen Drew then drilled a two-run triple to the gap in right-center to give the JetHawks a 3-0 lead.
The JetHawks entered the game as the only team in the league that has yet to toss a shut out in 2005. Inland Empire was able to break the shut out in the eighth. Sebastien Boucher doubled with one out and scored on an RBI single by Michael Garciaparra.
Lancaster added two more runs in the top of the ninth on one hit, four walks and a wild pitch. Cook drove home his second run of the game with a two-out RBI single.
Chico (3-2) turned in his fifth quality start in a row and his seventh in his last eight starts overall. The left hander allowed just two hits over six inning of work to earn his second victory in a row. Chico has not allowed a run in his last 14 innings of work.
The series with Inland Empire continues on Wednesday at Arrowhead Credit Union Park. Garrett Mock will make the start for the JetHawks and Chad Fillinger will go to the mound for the 66ers in the 7:11 P.M. game.
