Portland Winterhawks News Release

Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

Winterhawks captain Dominic Turgeon had four points over the team's two games this past weekend, his first two multi-point games of the season and first set of consecutive games this season with a point. Turgeon has six points in eight games this season.

Winterhawks defenseman Jack Dougherty scored his first career goal Friday in the team's win over Everett, and followed that up with an assist Saturday in Tri-Cities. Dougherty, a second round pick of the Nashville Predators, is in his first season with the Hawks after spending last season with the University of Wisconsin.

Two other players achieved career firsts Friday when Ryan Hughes and Brett Clayton each registered their first career point with assists on a goal by Paul Bittner in the first period. Hughes went on to add another assist the following night in Tri-Cities.

The Hawks outshot both Everett and Tri-Cities over the weekend, continuing an early season trend. The team has outshot its opponents five times in eight games, including a season-high 46 shots in Friday's 5-1 win over the Silvertips.
