CALGARY, ALTA. - Edmonton Oil Kings forward Brett Pollock was named to the roster for Team WHL that will take on the Russian junior squad in the 2015 CHL Canada Russia Series on Monday.

Pollock, 19, was one of 20 WHL players named to the squad that will face the Russians Nov. 9 in Kelowna and Nov. 10 in Kamloops. The Sherwood Park native is a second-round draft pick of the Dallas Stars.

"I'm very excited for this opportunity and to be able to represent the Oil Kings and the WHL," Pollock said. "These are some of the elite players in our league, and I'm really looking forward to the chance to suit up alongside them and against the Russians."

The CHL Canada Russia Series is a key tune-up for the Canadian World Junior selection process and is put on in collaboration with the CHL and Hockey Canada. It will be the first time Pollock has had the chance to participate in any sort of Hockey Canada event.

Pollock is tied for the team lead with 10 points in 10 games this season for the Oil Kings. In his fourth season with the Oil Kings, the 6-3, 197-pound winger has 62 goals and 131 points in 191 games.

Pollock is the 10th member of the Oil Kings to be chosen for Team WHL in the Canada Russia series after Tristan Jarry (2014, 2013), Mitch Moroz (2013), Curtis Lazar (2013, 2012), Griffin Reinhart (2013, 2012), Travis Ewanyk (2012), Keegan Lowe (2012), Laurent Brossoit (2012), Michael St. Croix (2012, 2011) and Mark Pysyk (2010, 2009).
