Chesapeake Baysox News Release

June 15, 2006 - Sea Dogs One Up 'Sox, Take Series With 2-0 Win Portland and Bowie came into Thursday night's matchup tied for the all-time matchup at 63 wins a piece. The rubber match of the only series in Bowie, MD this season went to the visitors as Portland collected eight hits and put two runs on the board while holding the home team to just four hits and nil in the run column.

Richard Stahl suffered his ninth loss of the season, and his eighth in a row. The Georgia native did not pitch that bad getting six Sea Dogs striking out and walking just one but did allow one run through five frames of work. Unfortunately he did not receive any run support this evening. Neither did the Baysox bullpen.

Portland scored on a bases loaded walk in the 4th and Chad Spann hit a solo shot to left field in the 8th for the only runs of the game.

Bowie threatened in the bottom of the 9th as Noah Hall reached on an infield single off closer Edgar Martinez but Raúl Chavez swung at strike three and ended the hopes of the 2,631 fans in attendance.

Portland now takes a one game lead in the all-time series record. The Baysox will have to wait until next season to redeem themselves as tonight wrapped up the series between the two teams.
