Point Receives Summer Camp Invite

Moose Jaw Warrior Brayden Point was one of 41 players who received invitations today to Hockey Canada's World Junior Summer Development Camp which will be held in August.

Point led the Warriors in scoring last season with 36 goals and 91 points, he was also the highest scoring 1996-born player in the Western Hockey League. The Calgary product has played 144 regular season games, scoring 61 goals and totalling 149 points.

Point is no stranger to international competition. As part of Team Pacific at the 2012 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, he had two goals and five points and captured silver. At the 2013 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament he had four points in five games, helping Canada to a gold medal, and was named Canada's top player in the championship game. Earlier this year he played for Canada at the World Under-18 Championships, he had two points in four games before sustaining an injury. Point won a bronze medal with Canada at the Under-18's and also had the best face-off percentage (73.33%).

Point will be in Philadelphia this weekend for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, ISS Hockey had him ranked 38th in their final draft rankings.

He is one of several Warriors to take part in Hockey Canada camps this summer. Earlier this month Noah Gregor and Brett Howden were named to the Under-17 Selection Camp (which will be July 27 to August 5). Zach Sawchenko and Brody Willms participated in the Program of Excellence goalie camp in early June.

Hockey Canada's World Junior Summer Evaluation Camp will be held August 3 to 8 in Montreal. The roster is made up of four goaltenders, twelve defenceman, and 25 forwards, who were selected by Ryan Jankowski, head scout of the men's Program of Excellence for Hockey Canada, along with Hockey Canada vice-president of hockey operations Scott Salmond and the POE management group including Sean Burke and Bruce Hamilton.

The 2015 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships are December 26 to January 5 in Toronto and Montreal.
