
Klimchuk Named to National Junior Summer Development Camp

Regina, Saskatchewan - Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League, announced Monday a roster of 41 players that have been invited to Canada's National Junior Team Sport Chek summer development camp, set for August 3rd-8th in Brossard, Montreal and Sherbrooke, Que.
Among the 16 WHL players selected is Regina Pats forward Morgan Klimchuk. The Pats 5th Overall pick in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft, Klimchuk has tallied 30 or more goals the past two seasons including a 36 goal campaign in 2012-13. Following that season, the Calgary, AB product was selected in the first round (28th Overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames.
In the 2013-14 season, Klimchuk battled through injuries to register 74 points (30G, 44A) in just 57 games resulting in the highest points per game average on the Pats (1.30 points per game). In 201 regular season games, Klimchuk holds 187 points (84G, 103A) for his WHL career.
The Pats sniper is no stranger to international play having participated in numerous tournaments including winning Gold with Canada at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and the 2013 IIHF World U18 Championship.
Canada's roster, comprised of four goaltenders, 12 defencemen and 25 forwards, was selected by Ryan Jankowski, head scout of the men's Program of Excellence for Hockey Canada, along with Hockey Canada vice-president of hockey operations/national teams Scott Salmond and the Program of Excellence management group including Sean Burke and Bruce Hamilton.
Jankowski will continue to monitor these players and other potential candidates during the first few months of the 2014-15 season and at the CHL Subway Super Series to determine who will be invited to Canada's National Junior Team selection camp in December. In total, 22 players will be selected to represent Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2014 to Jan. 5, 2014 in Montreal, Que. and Toronto, Ont.
