Point Earned Down South in 3-2 OT Loss

December 7, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (December 7)-For a second consecutive time the Texas Brahmas and Laredo Bucks would require the extra period, but it was the Bucks who prevailed Tuesday night as Texas earned a single point in the 3-2 overtime loss on the road.

Scoring began when a rebound landed on the stick of forward Matt Pierce who put it past Pier Pelletier for a 1-0 Brahmas lead. Hans Benson scored the equalizer early in the second period when he beat Kevin Beech in net at the 1:54 mark.

Benson continued to be a thorn in the Brahmas side when he netted his second of the night for a Laredo one goal lead with just seven minutes remaining in regulation. But with the game on the line, Beech was yanked for the extra attacker and it was former Buck, Todd Griffith who found daylight with a little over one minute left on the clock. Jason Deitsch and Alex Curran were credited with the assists. This time a former Brahma took matters into his own hands when Jeff Hazelwood registered the game winner in overtime for the Laredo 3-2 victory. Texas outshot Laredo 37-32 and their league leading penalty killing unit stopped all three Buck powerplay opportunities.

The Brahmas continue their December road trip this weekend with a game in Tulsa Friday and a visit to their I-20 rivals, Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, Saturday evening. Games can be seen on CHL-TV. The Brahmas next home game is set for Saturday, December 18 when they host the Odessa Jackalopes for a 7:30 pm start.
