Gems Receiving National Recognition in Hockey Realm
December 7, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Dayton Gems News Release
Dayton, OH- The Dayton Gems announced yesterday (Monday, December 6th) that their game against the Evansville IceMen on Friday, February 25th at 7:30 p.m. will be known as Jerry "The King" Lawler theme night. Within hours of this announcement, yahoo's national hockey blog titled Puck Daddy opened a discussion with its fans looking for feedback about the idea.
The author of the blog article Greg Wyshynski, posed a number of different questions to members of the blog, citing specific examples of how the jersey that the Gems will be wearing drew comparison to the NHL's Calgary Flames and also whether or not having a wrestler such as Lawler in the building that night would create a fight between the Gems and the IceMen during the game. Wyshynski goes onto talk about the Gems VIP Package offer that includes two tickets to the game, a free parking pass, two official game pucks signed by Lawler, an autographed Jerry Lawler Autobiography and a private meet and greet with Lawler before the game against Evansville that night all for $75.00.
Wyshynski finishes his article by asking the fans for their opinion "As an overall night at the rink, jerseys included, what say you, pass or fail?" The majority of responses to this question were a resounding pass. Some of the comments included a major pass. Lawler's a pro (by Jonathan), best $75 ticket ever (by NickyB) and it's a pass, I'm from Dayton so I'm totally going to this game! (by Amanda).
"To see one of our promotional nights receive national recognition so quickly is something we are very excited about," said Gems President Joe Greene. "Before the season started, our front office staff spent a lot of time coming up with unique and different ways we could entertain our fans and we think that the Lawler promotion has the potential to be one of our biggest theme nights of the season due to this type of recognition."
Individual game tickets are available for purchase in advance. For more information call the Gems offices at 937-275-7777 or log onto our website at www.daytongems.com . The U.S. Marines will be there as well to collect Toys for Tots and Santa Clause will make an appearance for the kids.
