
Bucks Beat Brahmas in OT

Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Texas Brahmas 3-2 in overtime Tuesday night at Laredo Energy Arena. The Bucks won their second straight game to improve to 9-9-3 (21 points) and into a tie for fourth place in the Berry Conference.
Jeff Hazelwood scored on a wraparound goal just 1:50 into overtime as the Bucks improve to 5-1-2 in their last eight games. The goal was Hazelwood's fifth of the season.
Hans Benson scored two goals and added an assist while Pier Pelletier stopped 35 of 37 shots he faced to lead Laredo to their first overtime win of the season (1-3).
Benson has four goals in the Bucks last two contests.
The Brahmas (10-6-3) scored first for the third time against the Bucks this season as they went up 1-0 just 2:39 into the first period. Matt Pierce jammed in his own rebound on the right side of the crease to pick up his fourth goal of the season.
The Bucks (5-5-1 at home) outshot the Brahmas 16-15 in the first period.
Laredo would tie the game at 1-1 just 1:56 into the second period when Benson picked up a loose puck in the slot and hammered home a slap shot. The goal was Benson's fourth of the season and third in the Bucks last two games.
Each team would go 0-for-two on second period power-plays as the Bucks killed off a 32 second five-on-three while the Brahmas killed off a four minute double minor.
Texas outshot the Bucks 11-8 in the second period.
Benson gave the Bucks a 2-1 lead with 6:53 left in the third period when he tipped in Jarred Mohr's slap shot from the top of the left circle. Benson now has five goals on the season.
Texas would tie the game with just 1:04 left in regulation when Todd Griffith jammed in a rebound with the Brahmas having an extra attacker. The goal was Griffith's fourth of the season.
Laredo was outshot 10-6 in the third period and was outshot in the game 37-32.
Kevin Beech 29 of 32 shots he faced for Texas.
The Bucks have won three straight home games for the first time this season.
