
Playoff races taking shape

Division races around the ECHL are starting to take shape as the 2014-15 season enters the fifth month of play.
In the East Division, the Florida Everblades lead the pack with a conference best 62 points, four points ahead of Reading which has gone 19-5-0 in its last 24 games. Greenville sits in third place with 53 points while Elmira currently has the final playoff spot in the division with 51 points. Orlando and South Carolina are tied for fifth place with 43 points each while Gwinnett is in seventh place with 33 points.
Fort Wayne and Toledo continue to jockey for the North Division lead. The two clubs enter the week tied for first place with 61 points each. Only 12 points separate third from seventh place in the division with Cincinnati and Kalamazoo currently in the final two playoff spots with 42 and 41 points respectively. Indy has gone 8-1-1 in its last 10 games and has moved to within four points of a playoff spot while Evansville is 11 points back with 30 points.
In the Western Conference, the Allen Americans lead the Central Division and the conference with 64 points. A three-team logjam sits behind the leaders with Quad City, Wichita and Tulsa are tied for second with 46 points. Rapid City is in fifth place with 39 points, followed by Missouri with 38 points and Brampton with 28.
The Pacific Division race features the top three teams separated by just one point. Colorado sits a top division with 59 points while Idaho and Ontario are both just one point off the pace with 58 points each. Utah has gone 6-2-2 in its last 10 games to move into fourth place with 47 points, and the Grizzlies have a five-point edge over Bakersfield for the final playoff spot in the division. Alaska is in sixth place with 40 points with Stockton in seventh place with 29 points.

Eastern Conference
Florida at Reading (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
The top two teams in the East Division are separated by just four points entering the week. The Everblades are one of the best road teams in the ECHL with a 15-5-1 record away from home while the Royals have the league's longest active winning streak, having won seven consecutive games.
Western Conference
Ontario at Colorado (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
The Eagles lead the Pacific Division with 59 points, with the Reign sitting just one point off the pace. Ontario's 15 road wins are the most in the Western Conference while Colorado ranks second in the conference with 15 home wins.

North Division
- Chris Reed is fourth among defensemen with a 15.2 percent shooting percentage (5-for-33).
- The Cyclones have allowed a league-low 27 goals in the second period.
- Cincinnati hosts Kalamazoo on Wednesday and visits Elmira on Friday and Wheeling on Saturday.
- Chris Driedger is fourth with 803 saves.
- Evansville is 8-1-1 when leading after two periods.
- The IceMen host Indy on Friday and Saturday and are at Fort Wayne on Sunday.
- Drew Daniels leads the league in plus-minus at +30.
- The Komets have outscored their opponents 60-37 in the second period.
- Fort Wayne visits Kalamazoo on Friday and hosts the K-Wings on Saturday and Evansville on Sunday.
- Nick Bruneteau is fourth among rookie defensemen with 24 points (3g-21a).
- Indy is sixth on the power play at 19.4 percent (35-for-180).
- The Fuel are at Evansville on Friday and Saturday and host Kalamazoo on Sunday.
- Joel Martin went 5-1-0 with a 1.80 goals-against average in January.
- The K-Wings are 5-0-1 in their last six road games.
- Kalamazoo is at Cincinnati on Tuesday, hosts Fort Wayne on Friday and visits the Komets on Saturday and Indy on Sunday.
- Neil Conway stopped all 22 shots on Friday against Cincinnati to record his first career ECHL shutout.
- Toledo has allowed a league-low 104 goals this season.
- The Walleye are at Wheeling on Friday and Elmira on Saturday.
- Morgan Ellis had three two-goal games in January, and finished the month with nine goals in 14 games.
- The Nailers are 14-1-0 when leading after two periods.
- Wheeling visits Reading on Wednesday and hosts Toledo on Friday, Cincinnati on Saturday and Elmira on Sunday.
East Division
- Sam Marotta leads rookie goaltenders with a 2.50 goals-against average.
- Elmira is the only team in the league to have not allowed a shorthanded goal this season.
- The Jackals host Florida on Wednesday, Cincinnati on Friday, Toledo on Saturday and Wheeling on Sunday.
- Cameron Burt is tied for second among defensemen with 24 assists.
- The Everblades are third with 3.83 goals per game.
- Florida is at Elmira on Wednesday and Reading on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Trevor Parkes has seven goals and 11 points in his last nine games.
- Greenville is tied for the league lead with eight wins in games decided beyond regulation.
- The Road Warriors host Orlando on Thursday and South Carolina on Saturday.
- Casey Pierro-Zabotel is third in the league with 49 points (19g-30a).
- The Gladiators are 12-2-1 when leading after two periods.
- Gwinnett hosts Orlando on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and travels to South Carolina on Sunday.
- Jacob Cepis is on a six-game point streak (5g-4a).
- Orlando is 5-1-0 in its last six games.
- The Solar Bears are at Gwinnett on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and at Greenville on Thursday.
- Pat Mullane has posted multiple points in three of the last four games.
- The Royals are 19-5-0 in their last 24 games.
- Reading hosts Wheeling on Wednesday and Florida on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Adam Morrison is second in the league with a 2.16 goals-against average.
- South Carolina leads the league with 26.02 shots-against per game.
- The Stingrays visit Greenville on Saturday and host Gwinnett on Sunday.
Central Division
- Chad Costello is on a 15-game point streak (4g-21a).
- The Americans are a league best 19-3-1 at home.
- Allen is at Brampton on Thursday and Friday.
- Mathew Maione leads rookie defensemen with 115 shots on goal.
- Brampton is 8-0-0 when leading after two periods.
- The Beast host Allen on Thursday and Friday.
- Jack Downing has four goals, including two game-winners, in his last three games.
- The Mavericks have outscored their opponents 10-3 during their three-game winning streak.
- Missouri hosts Quad City on Tuesday and Sunday and Rapid City on Friday.
- Mario Lamoureux has 10 points (3g-7a) in his last seven games.
- Quad City went 6-for-12 (50.0 percent) on the power play in three games last week.
- The Mallards visit Missouri on Tuesday and Sunday and host Wichita on Friday and Saturday.
- Danny Battochio is tied for second with three shutouts.
- The Rush are 13-2-0 when leading after two periods.
- Rapid City is at Tulsa on Thursday and Saturday and Missouri on Friday.
- Adam Pleskach is second with 25 goals.
- Tulsa is 11-4-4 in one-goal games.
- The Oilers host Rapid City on Thursday and Saturday.
- Ian Lowe leads Wichita with 39 points (15g-24a).
- The Thunder are sixth on the penalty kill at 84.4 percent (168-for-199).
- Wichita is at Quad City on Friday and Saturday.
Pacific Division
- Brendan Connolly is tied for third in the league with four shorthanded points (1g-3a).
- Alaska leads the league with 33.34 shots per game.
- The Aces host Stockton on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Chase Schaber is tied for third with seven power-play goals.
- The Condors are sixth with 27.82 shots-against per game.
- Bakersfield is at Colorado on Wednesday and Utah on Friday and Saturday.
- Brett Kulak is second among rookie defensemen with nine goals.
- Colorado is 5-0-1 in games decided beyond regulation.
- The Eagles host Bakersfield on Wednesday and Ontario on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Jefferson Dahl has nine points (5g-4a) in his last seven games.
- The Steelheads are tied for the league lead with nine shorthanded goals.
- Idaho hosts Utah on Wednesday.
- Joe Cannata leads the league with a 2.04 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage.
- Ontario is 20-2-2 when scoring first.
- The Reign are at Colorado on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Jack MacLellan leads Stockton with 35 points (10g-25a).
- The Thunder are fifth on the power play at 20.1 percent (34-for-169).
- Stockton is at Alaska on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Camden Wojtala has been posted an even rating or better in 24 of his last 26 games.
- Utah went 8-4-2 in January.
- The Grizzlies are at Idaho on Wednesday and host Bakersfield on Friday and Saturday.
