The BlueClaws are playoff bound! Lakewood topped Hickory 4-0 on Sunday afternoon, and coupled with Greensboro's 3-1 win over Kannapolis on Sunday night, the BlueClaws are South Atlantic League Northern Division First Half Champions!
They are headed back to the post-season for the fifth time in franchise history and second time in the last three years.
Lakewood trailed by as many as 5.5 games in the first half, but won 10 of their last 15 games, and seven of their last nine, to rally into the post-season.
Lakewood has won three previous SAL titles, bringing home titles in 2006, 2009, and 2010. They fell to Rome in the 2016 SAL Championship Series three games to one.
The BlueClaws will host Game Two on Friday, September 7th at FirstEnergy Park after opening the best-of-three Northern Division Championship Series on the road at the Second Half Champion. If necessary, Lakewood would host Game Three on Saturday, September 8th.
The South Atlantic League Championship Series begins the following week with games one and two at the Southern Division Champion and Games Three, Four, and Five at the Northern Division Champion.
