Idaho Steelheads News Release
McCALL, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads announced today that defenseman Matt Stephenson has been assigned to the team by the American Hockey League's Manitoba Moose, forward Alexander Naurov has been assigned by the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars, forward John Lammers has been loaned to the AHL's Houston Aeros by Dallas, and forward Mark Bomersback has been signed to a Player Tryout Contract by the AHL's Providence Bruins.
The 6-foot-2, 205 pound Stephenson [steeven-son], was acquired by the Moose from the Iowa Chops (AHL) over the summer. He appeared in five games for the Iowa Stars last season following his senior season at St. Cloud State where he served as team captain. Stephenson, 25, tallied 7 goals and 44 assists for 51 points, and 159 penalty minutes over his 141-game NCAA career with the Huskies. Stephenson is with the Steelheads in McCall for the team's training camp.
Naurov, played 56 games with the Steelheads during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons, before Dallas assigned him to the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors last season. The 23-year-old Russian played 8 postseason games with Idaho in 2007 and helped the team capture its second Kelly Cup Championship. Naurov is a 2003 NHL fourth round draft pick of the Dallas Stars.
Lammers, on an NHL contract with Dallas, and Bomersback, both high-scoring former Steelheads, were named to Idaho's training camp roster and are expected to join Idaho at a later time.
