Enforcer Emmerson assigned to Blades

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that forward Riley Emmerson has been assigned to the team by the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League.

Emmerson, who stands 6-foot-8, joins the Everblades after spending the past two seasons in the ECHL with the Texas Wildcatters. The 22-year-old skated in 51 games with Texas in 2007-08 scoring two goals and adding two assists, while amassing 142 penalty minutes. During his rookie campaign in 2006-07 the Vancouver, British Columbia native tallied three points (2g, 1a) and 99 PIM in 42 games with the Wildcatters.

"Riley is the kind of player that can change to momentum of a game." Cameron said. "He's an outstanding team guy who can be an intimidating force on the ice."

Prior to turning pro Emmerson spent two seasons at the junior level with the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League. A 7th round draft pick by Minnesota in the 2005 NHL entry draft, Emmerson combined to scored two points and 170 PIM in 101 games with Tri-City.
