Pittsfield Colonials News Release

PITTSFIELD, MA - Scott Knazek homered twice and drove in a career-high six runs as the Pittsfield Colonials took the nightcap of a doubleheader over the Rockland Boulders 12-5.

In game two, after Rockland scored a pair of runs in the second inning on a homerun by Scott Clement, the Colonials erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the inning. The big shots for Pittsfield were a two-run triple from Scott Knazek and a three-run homer from Jerod Edmondson.

The two squads traded two-run homers in the third, the Boulders' blast coming from Jeremy Slayden, the Colonials' shot coming from Knazek to make it 10-4 Pittsfield. The Colonials would add to the lead in the fifth on Knazek's second two-run homer of the game, his fourth of the season, to push the advantage to 12-4. Rockland would score a run in the sixth to create the final.

MacKenzie King (2-3) tossed a complete game for the Colonials in the victory. Bobby Blevins (5-5) surrendered eight of the Colonials runs in an inning-plus, taking the loss.

Game one saw Rockland score a run in the top of the first. The Colonials would counter with a three-spot in the bottom of the inning, keyed by a two-run double from Billy Mottram. The two squads traded runs in the third before the Colonials built a 7-2 lead over the fourth and fifth, the final run coming in on Angel Molina's third homer of the week.

Things were looking good for Pittsfield until the top of the sixth when Rockland plated six runs on six hits to take an 8-7 lead and would hold on for the win by that same final.

Jon Muller (2-4) earned the win in relief for Rockland. Mike Zenko (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season. Adrian Martin worked a scoreless seventh for his league leading 15th save.

The Colonials now head out on a six-game road trip against New Jersey and Newark. Pittsfield will return home on Friday, August 5 against the New Jersey Jackals at 7 p.m. For tickets or information visit pittsfieldcolonials.com or call (413)-236-2961.
