Stop the Violence

Newark Bears News Release


In response to the rash of shootings, and Killings that have taken place in Newark during the months of June and July, and the President/Coach of the Westward Little League Kevin Waters being attacked on June 8th 2011 after a little league game.

The Enough Is Enough Coalition has organized a Stop the Violence Day event along with the Newark Bears Baseball team, and others.

We are declaring July 29th Stop the Violence Day in the City of Newark and Essex County.

We will be holding a Press Conference at Bears Stadium on July 28th, 12 noon to announce to the public our declaration, we are asking all business, churches, community organizations to do something positive on that day, by getting out a positive message against Violence in their community, and homes.

We are also asking the Gang Members, the Car Jackers, Killers, Drug Dealers etc. to Stop the Violence, and be at Peace for that Day, and to show Love to one another.

Here are a few agencies that are involved in our Stop the Violence Day event:

Christian Love Church, Purple Reign a Domestic Violence prevention agency, Peoples organization for Progress, Georgia King Village, (UVSO) Unified Vailsburg Service Organization, Good Samaritian Church, Westward Little League, Ivy Hill Little League, Tri Cities Corp, The Newark Bears, Smith Memorial AME Church, The Dad's Group, Free Holder Rufus Johnson, Senator Ronald Rice, IYO, West Ward Councilman Ron Rice, and Office, Newark Council President Donald Payne Jr and Office, and others.

We will have several speakers from the agencies making a statement against the Violence.

This is the 2nd Stop the Violence event out of 3 the first was a Little League Stop the Violence game that was played last Friday at Vailsburg Park which ended in a 10-10 tie with the Monarch of Ivy Hill Playing the Westward Little League, The Stop the Violence Bears Game is the second event, and the 3rd event is the game at Ivy Hill Park 10 a.m.
