Pittsburgh Penguins re-sign LW Matt Murley

Pittsburgh, PA. - The Pittsburgh Penguins, parent club of the American Hockey League's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, today re-signed left wing Matt Murley. In accordance with club policy, terms of the contract were not released. The announcement was made by Penguins' Executive Vice President and General Manager Craig Patrick.

Murley, 24, appeared in 18 games with the Penguins during the 2003-04 season, recording two points (1+1) and 14 penalty minutes. He made his NHL debut in the Penguins' season opener vs. Los Angeles on October 10th. Murley scored his first NHL goal on December 13th vs. Columbus.

Murley also appeared in 63 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording 36 points (10+26) and 69 penalty minutes, tying for third on the team in assists and ranking sixth in scoring. Additionally, Murley recorded 13 points (7+6) and 17 penalty minutes in 24 playoff games, ranking sixth on the team in scoring.

The 6'1", 206-pound native of Troy, New York was drafted by the Penguins in the second round (51st overall) of the 1999 Entry Draft.
