Aeros open training camp September 27
September 9, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Houston Aeros News Release
Houston, Texas â The Houston Aeros will open their 2004 Training Camp at the Sugar Land Aerodrome on Monday, Sept. 27, and the team announced its schedule for the first week of camp this afternoon. Houston is the American Hockey League affiliate of the Minnesota Wild and this season is adding a secondary affiliation with the Dallas Stars.
"The signing of proven veteran scorers such as Raymond Giroux and Kirby Law to go alongside promising youngsters, Calder Cup Champion veterans and Dallas prospects has led to abundant enthusiasm within the Wild organization," said Aeros general manager Tom Lynn.
Players will be split up into two groups as the Aeros will spend the better part of four hours on the ice each day. Houston opens up with a split practice session Monday, Sept. 27 from 2:30-5:15. Tuesday-Thursday of Training Camp includes one session from 8:30-9:30 a.m., another from 9:45-10:45 a.m., and then a Team A vs. Team B scrimmage from 2:15-3:45 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 1 and Saturday, Oct. 2, the Aeros will take on the San Antonio Rampage in pre-season action. Friday's game is in San Antonio, while Saturday's contest will be at the Sugar Land Aerodrome. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door (cash only) on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Aeros and Rampage play another home-and-home Friday, Oct. 8 (at Sugar Land Aerodrome) and Saturday, Oct. 9.
