Barons Announce Preseason And Hockey Fest Plans

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Barons today announced the schedule for the 2003-04 preseason. Along with the preseason slate, plans for the Second Annual Barons Hockey Fest were unveiled. Michael T. Lehr, President of the Cleveland Barons, made the announcement.

On Sunday, October 10th, the Second Annual Barons Hockey Fest will be held at Barons Arena from 12-3:30pm. Fans will have the opportunity to get photographs and autographs from the 2004-05 Barons players. A wide range of interactive activities will be ongoing throughout the event. Commentator hopefuls will have the chance to call radio play-by-play for a hockey highlight. Fans can also engage in a roundtable talk with Barons officials and players. Also on hand will be Cleveland Hockey Alumni, the AHL Calder Cup, inflatables, and a great deal more.

The event will be capped by the Barons inter-squad scrimmage against the Rochester Americans at 4pm at Barons Arena. Tickets for the scrimmage are $5 and Season Ticket Holders will get in for free. Tickets will only be available at Barons Arena on the day of the game. Barons Arena is located on 5310 Hauserman Road in Parma.

The Barons will get their first taste of live action against an opposing team with an inter-squad scrimmage with the Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at The Summit in Dimondale, Mich. The game will give fans a taste of opening night, as the Barons kick off their 2004-05 regular season campaign against the Griffins on October 15th in Grand Rapids.

The Barons will then trade home games with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. On September 7th, the Barons will host the Mighty Ducks at the Kent State Ice Arena at 7:00pm. General admission tickets for the game can be purchased at the Kent State Ice Arena or by calling 330-672-7820 for $5 beginning on Friday, September 24th. Following the game, fans are encouraged to participate in a free Post-Game Skate with the team. Skate rental will be available through the rink.

The Barons will play their lone road exhibition game on Saturday, October 9th against the Mighty Ducks. Sight and time of the game will be determined at a later date.

"Our fans are still raving about the first Barons Hockey Fest held last summer. This year's free event will be even more memorable and it will culminate with an important preseason contest," stated Lehr. "We are pleased at having such a competitive preseason schedule. It will have us well-prepared for the regular season and our drive to the Calder Cup."

The Barons are set to open the 2004-05 home schedule on Saturday, October 16th at Gund Arena at 7pm against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
