Pittsburgh Penguins re-sign Alain Nasreddine

PITTSBURGH, PA - The National Hockey League's Pittsburgh Penguins, parent club of the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, have re-signed defenseman Alain Nasreddine, it was announced today by General Manager Craig Patrick. In accordance with club policy, terms of the contract were not released.

Nasreddine, 29, appeared in a combined 70 games last season with Bridgeport (AHL) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL), recording nine points (2+7) and 86 penalty minutes. Nasreddine appeared in 17 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording two points (1+1) and 16 penalty minutes after being acquired from the Islanders. In 53 games with Bridgeport, Nasreddine recorded seven points (1+6) and 70 penalty minutes.

Nasreddine appeared all 24 playoff games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, scoring one goal and recording 48 penalty minutes.

The 6'1", 205-pound native of Montreal, Quebec was acquired by the Penguins on March 8, 2004 from the New York Islanders in exchange for Steve Webb. Nasreddine has played in 18 NHL games with Chicago, Montreal and NY Islanders, going scoreless with 54 penalty minutes.
