
Pitching Trio Combines for Shutout Victory

Asheville Tourists News Release
WINSTON-SALEM- The Asheville Tourists won for the fourth time in their last five games with a 9-0 drubbing over the Winston-Salem Dash. Rhett Kouba, Jose Betances, and Aaron Brown combined to pitch all nine innings without allowing a run. The trio struck out 14 Dash hitters.
Kouba worked the first four frames and scattered two singles. Rhett recorded eight strikeouts for the second time in a row. Kouba struck out eight in four innings against Aberdeen last week. Betances pitched the fifth inning and retired the side in order. Brown finished out the contest with four scoreless innings.
Offensively, the Tourists were led by a 3-for-3 effort from Luis Santana. Zach Daniels, Michael Sandle, and Miguel Palma all had two hits as well. Palma gave the Tourists the lead in the top of the fourth inning with a two-run single.
In the fifth, Sandle, Daniels, and Santana recorded consecutive two-out hits to run Asheville's lead up to 4-0. Santana struck again in the seventh with a two-run double into the left field corner. The Tourists were not done yet.
Kenedy Corona led off the ninth with a double. Two batters later Sandle tripled in a run. Daniels then followed with a two-run Home Run to left-centerfield. Both Daniels and Santana finished the game with three RBI.
Asheville is back over .500 on their current road trip at 5-4 with four games remaining in Winston-Salem.
