Pitching leads Bowling Green to victory over Legends

Bowling Green pitchers struck out 12 batters as the Hot Rods defeated the Lexington Legends 4-1 at Applebee's Park Saturday night.

Bowling Green starter Matt Moore fanned seven in five innings as he earned his fourth win against three losses. Tyree Hayes pitched the sixth and seventh innings, striking out four. Josh Satow worked the eighth and ninth, picking up his ninth save.

The Hot Rods scored twice in the second inning. Mike Sheridan tripled and came home on a throwing error by pitcher Brad Dydalewicz on a ground ball hit by Justin Reynolds. Jason Tweedy walked, and Robi Estrada singled to load the bases. Anthony Scelfo's sacrifice fly scored Reynolds from third to make the score 2-0.

In the seventh, Estrada tripled to lead off against Lexington reliever Brian Wabick and scored on a sacrifice fly by Tim Beckham.

Lexington got its only run in the bottom of the seventh when Kyle Miller led off with his second home run of the year. Mike Sheridan hit a solo homer in the eighth for Bowling Green to close out the scoring.

Dydalewicz (4-2) was the losing pitcher.

The Legends and Hot Rods will wrap up the series with a Sunday afternoon game. First pitch is set for 2:05.
