Evansville Otters News Release

The Evansville Otters and Mid-Missouri Mavericks played to a 0-0 tie through 12 innings before the Mavericks scored two in the top of the 13th inning only to see the Otters score three times in the bottom of the inning winning on a walk-off homerun by Trask Munoz to win 3-2.

The starting pitching was outstanding in the game as both Brian Kroll and Brett Smith were dominant. Smith allowed three hits over eight and Kroll pitched nine shutout innings, giving up just five hits as the two teams played scoreless into the tenth. The Otters got runners on first and second with one out in each of the 10th, 11th, and 12th innings without being able to cross the plate against Eli Sledge.

The Mavericks burst through the scoreless tie with two in the top of the 13th inning to take a 2-0 lead. Evansville led off with a walk by Frank Scott in the bottom of the inning. Two batters later, Jeff Goldbach homered on a 1-1 count to tie the game at 2-2. After Beau Blacken grounded out to third, Trask Munoz jumped on a first pitch fastball from Augie Rodriguez, hitting his first Bosse Field homerun to win the game for Evansville.

Rodriguez (1-7) took the loss for Mid-Missouri while Anthony Del Prete (2-3) picked up the win for Evansville.

With the win and a loss by Florence, Evansville is now just a game behind the Freedom for the East Division Wild Card.

The series wraps up tomorrow with Ben Foster (8-4) going for the Otters against Steve Soja (5-8) for Mid-Missouri with the game starting at 7:05 p.m.
