ROCKFORD, Ill. - Jeremy Busch broke out of a 4-for-35 slump to help the Rockford RiverHawks to a 6-3 win over the Richmond Roosters.

The RiverHawks' win, in front of 3,435 at Marinelli Field, coupled with Kalamazoo's 10-7 loss to Washington, put the ‘Hawks in sole possession of the Frontier League West lead. The Kings are a game back.

Busch was 3-for-4 and put the ‘Hawks in front with a 45-foot single down the line at first base. The Roosters allowed the fourth-inning grounder to roll. It stopped in fair territory as Todd Dulaney scored from second base on the two-out hit.

It was one of three unearned runs scored by the RiverHawks. Richmond committed three errors. Two of the five runs allowed by Richmond starter Tony Casoli (7-4) in his 5 1/3 innings were unearned.

Rockford committed three errors and both runs off starter Frank James (2-2) were unearned. Jason Glosser pitched a perfect ninth for his 12th save.

The RiverHawks go for the sweep of the three-game series at 7:05 Thursday. The RiverHawks invite the Rock River Valley to the pregame wedding of fans Lorna Encinas and Rick Hankins, officiated by Frontier League umpire Max McLeary, an ordained minister. The gates open at 5:30 p.m., with the wedding scheduled for 6 p.m. It's also a Miller Lite Dollar Beer Night.

The RiverHawks are the defending champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 13th season. All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 - the Hub.
