Pitcher Vidal Nuno Joins Thunder, Mesa and Ibarra Placed on DL

(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced Monday that LHP Vidal Nuno has been transferred to the team from Class-A Tampa. In addition, OF Melka Mesa (shoulder soreness) and INF Walter Ibarra (hand) have been placed on the disabled list. Nuno is scheduled to make his Double-A debut Tuesday night in a start against Akron.

Nuno, signed by the Yankees as a free agent in 2011, was originally with the Indians organization . He made 11 appearances with Tampa this season (1 start) and went 1-1 with a 2.96 ERA.

Mesa, a member of the Yankees 40-man roster, had not played since Friday night at New Hampshire, while Ibarra hits the disabled list for the second time this month. That bring the total DL stints to 15 already this season for the team.
