Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release

Traverse City, MI - The Pit Spitters entered play Monday looking to extend their winning streak to four games but fell short, dropping the series finale to the Rockford Rivets by a score of 8-2.

Led by a dominant combined pitching effort and a five run fifth inning, the Rivets established a lead mid game that the Pit Spitters could not overcome. The Pit Spitters struck first in the third inning behind an RBI Jake Arnold (SO North Georgia) single, driving home centerfielder Jake Wilson (JR Bowling Green.) The Rivets would go on to score twice in the fourth and five times in the fifth. Leading the charge were Rivets catcher Nick Juaire, designated hitter Tom Josten, and first basemen Cam McDonald, each of whom drove in multiple runs.

Leftfielder Hudson Byorick (JR Wofford) had three hits in the ballgame one of which was a double, and second basemen Mario Camilletti (SO Oakland) reached base four times, including a pair of singles and a stolen base. The Pit Spitters stranded ten runners on base. Taking the win was Rivets reliever Nate Schneiderman, who moves to 2-0 on the season. The loss goes to Pit Spitters starter Will Buraconak who falls to 0-1.
