
Pirates Blanked By Sound Tigers

Bridgeport, CT - Nathan Lawson turned aside all 26 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers beat the Portland Pirates 2-0 in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 2,103 at Arena at Harbor Yard.
Mark Katic and Greg Mauldin each scored unassisted goals in the game to account for all the offense as the Sound Tigers improved to 16-13-1-2 on the season.
The Pirates saw their nine-game road point streak (6-0-2-1) come to an end with the loss. Portland is now 14-12-3-2 on the campaign.
The two teams were scoreless through one. Katic scored his unassisted goal early in the second period to send the Sound Tigers into the third with a 1-0 advantage. Mauldin made it a two-goal lead with a shorthanded marker midway through the third.
The Pirates out shot the Sound Tigers 26-16 in the game as Jhonas Enroth took the loss.
The Allied Home Mortgage Three Stars of the game were all form the Sound Tigers. Lawson was the first, Katic the second and Mauldin the third.
The next Pirates home game take place this Friday when the Springfield Falcons visit the Cumberland County Civic Center for a 7 p.m. start. One lucky fan could win big in the $10,000 Dash for Cash and it's a Gritty's Mug Club Members Night with special ticket discounts to all Gritty's Mug Club Members.
Saturday the Pirates meet the Sound Tigers at 7 p.m. at the CCCC. It's a Labatt Blue Light Hockey Night in Portland and someone could win Salty Pete's Treasure Chest filled with more than $500 in prizes. It's also the Pirates second Student Achiever Night of the season as the Pirates and Aquafina reward participating schools and students with free tickets to the game.
