Hershey Bears News Release

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club will play a home- and-home series with the Rochester Americans this Friday and Saturday night before welcoming the Toronto Marlies to town Sunday afternoon. The stretch of three games in three nights wraps up the pre- Christmas schedule for the Chocolate and White.

Heading into the new week, the BEARS still hold down sole possession of first place in the East Division, with the Albany River Rats sitting just one point back. Tickets for this weekend's games are on sale now at the Giant Center box office or by calling (717) 534- 3911.

Round one is a 6-2 win: The BEARS thumped the Rochester Americans 6-2 Saturday night at Giant Center in the first of what will be three straight meetings between the two teams. HERSHEY will visit Rochester this Friday night before welcoming the Amerks to central PA on Saturday evening. The games this week are the 436th and 437th regular season games between the longtime AHL rivals.

Giroux and Aucoin return: The Capitals this past Thursday assigned left wing Alexandre Giroux and center Keith Aucoin to HERSHEY. Aucoin notched his second hat trick of the season Saturday at home against Rochester. Giroux, with just 18 games played for the BEARS this season, ranks second on the club with 29 points.

Practice schedule: HERSHEY will skate at Giant Center Monday and Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. The players and coaches are available for interviews after practice both days. The BEARS will skate briefly Thursday morning at Giant Center before departing for Rochester.

Roster moves: The BEARS assigned defenseman Dylan Yeo to South Carolina this past Thursday. Yeo, signed by the BEARS this past summer, played in two games for HERSHEY, recording no points. President/GM Doug Yingst also announced last week that right wing Brandon Sugden has left the team to play in Russia.

Washington update: Following a 6-3 loss in Toronto Saturday night, the Capitals are heading out west on a three-game trek through the Western Conference. Washington plays at Colorado Tuesday before heading to Vancouver to play the Canucks Friday night. Bruce Boudreau and company will be in Edmonton Saturday night at Rexall Place.
