Moose Release Bootland from PTO

The Manitoba Moose today announced they have released forward Darryl Bootland from his professional tryout contract.

Bootland, 28, played in 12 games with the Moose this season after signing a PTO on Nov. 4/09. In that span, the Bradford, ON native collected two points (1g & 1a) and 49 penalty minutes. Before his stint with the Moose this year, the right-winger played seven games with Kalamazoo of the ECHL, where he accumulated eight points (3g & 5a) and 29 penalty minutes. Last season, Bootland played in 14 games with the Moose where he recorded nine points (5g & 4a) along with 42 penalty minutes.

In his nine-year pro career, Bootland has played in 32 NHL games with Detroit and the New York Islanders where he's scored three points (1g & 2a) and 85 penalty minutes. In 382 career AHL games with the Grand Rapids, Portland, Bridgeport and Manitoba, Bootland has 168 points (82g & 86a) and 1480 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted by the Avalanche in the eighth round, 252nd overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
