The Sound Tigers were unable to muster much of an attack tonight against the Portland Pirates, as they were shutout, 5-0 by Portland net-minder Jean-Sebastien Aubin.

Drew Miller opened the scoring for the Pirates, just 10 seconds past the opening minute of the first period. For Miller, the goal was his 13th of the season, assisted by Petteri Wirtanen and Simon Ferguson for the 1-0 lead. About ten minutes later, Miller would tally his second goal of the game when he came over the Sound Tiger blue-line and wristed a shot over the blocker of Sound Tigers' starting goalie Mike Morrison. Jay Leach and Andy Schneider had the assists on Miller's 14th marker of the season making the score 2-0. The Pirates were not done as Bruno St. Jacques snapped a shot from the point that found its way through Morrison for his fifth goal of the season while Portland was on the power-play, giving the Pirates a 3-0 lead. Miller and Geoff Platt had the helpers on the goal coming at the 17:51 mark of the opening period.

In the second period, Platt scored his 28th and 29th goals of the season. His first of the night came 15:44 into the second period and was unassisted, increasing Portland's lead to 4-0. With 13 seconds remaining in the middle frame, Platt buried a shot through Morrison from the left circle, off a feed from St. Jacques. Brian Salcido had the second assist on the tally making the score 5-0 at the end of two periods of play.

Morrison held the Pirates off the board in the third period making six saves and finishing the game with 32 saves on 37 shots. Aubin stopped all 23 shots he faced earning his second straight shutout. The Sound Tigers were 0-for-4 on the power-play and went 4-for-5 on the penalty-kill.

The Sound Tigers will meet the Pirates again tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. for the final meeting between the two teams season this season.
