Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans kickoff their five-game road trip tonight as they face the San Antonio Rampage at the AT&T Center. The 8:00 p.m. EST start time will be the second and final meeting between the two teams this season and will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks.
Rochester defeated San Antonio 3-2 in shootout fashion in the previous encounter between the two teams on February 9th at The Blue Cross Arena. Rochester is 8-3-0 all-time against the Phoenix Coyotes' affiliate.
The Amerks will be getting a big offensive boost with the return of forwards Clarke MacArthur and Tanner Glass. MacArthur makes his way back to the Amerks-lineup after recording 15 points (8+7) over three separate promotions to the National Hockey League. In 26 American Hockey League contests with Rochester, the 22-year-old Lloydminster, Alberta, native has 30 points (11+19). At the time of his first recall on November 7th, MacArthur led the AHL with 18 points (8+10) in just 14 appearances. The 6-foot-0, 191-pound forward was Buffalo's third-round selection (74th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Glass was reassigned earlier this morning to the Amerks after spending his fourth-stint with the Panthers this season. A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Glass has collected two points (1+1) in 41 games with Florida. As a member of the Amerks, the 6-foot-0, 196-pound left wing has notched four points (2+2) in 25 games. Glass was Florida's ninth-round selection (265th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Mark Mancari leads Rochester with 42 (15+27) points, while Stefan Meyer has found the back of the net 17 times for the team lead. Goaltender Adam Dennis is tied for seventh in the league with three shutouts. The hot man on the team, Marc-Andre Gragnani, is currently on a 10-game point streak in which time he has collected 13 points (5+9). His 40 points (9+31) presently ranks him second on the team and fourth among league rookies. Further, his 31 assists are also a team best.
San Antonio is coming off a come-from-behind victory on Wednesday night against the Providence Bruins. Despite falling 1-0 in the second period, the Rampage scored four unanswered third-period goals to defeat the Bruins, 4-1. The Rampage is led by Matt Murley with 47 points (15+32) this season. Bill Thomas (20+21) and Joey Tenute (19+22) are tied for second in points for the Rampage. Newly acquired goalie Al Montoya is undefeated since his arrival, posting a 2-0-0-0 record between the pipes for the Rampage. This season, Montoya has posted an 18-8-3 record in the AHL, while counterpart Josh Tordjman has posted a 19-9-4 record this season.
The Amerks continue their road trip through the Lonestar state as they visit the Toyota Center to battle the Houston Aeros on Sunday Night. Faceoff is slated for 5:05 p.m. EST start and can be heard live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks.
Rochester returns home on Friday, March 21st to host the Grand Rapids Griffins at The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:35 p.m. start will be the Amerks first home game since March 2nd.
