
Pink in the Rink Record 8,364 Watch Stingrays Topple Road Warriors 5-1

North Charleston, SC -Forward Nikita Kashirsky recorded three points (2g, 1a) as the South Carolina Stingrays (24-16-1-1) dropped the Greenville Road Warriors (25-14-1-1) 5-1 in front of a Pink in the Rink record crowd of 8,364 at the North Charleston Coliseum Saturday evening.
Road Warriors forward Brandon Wong tallied the only goal of the first period lifting a shot over the right pad of Stingrays goaltender Jared DeMichiel at 13:08 from forwards Connor Shields and Shane Harper.
The Stingrays lit the lamp three times in the second period to take a two-goal lead into the second intermission. Defenseman Josh Godfrey tied the contest on the power play 44 seconds into the frame from forwards Tommy Goebel and Samson Mahbod. Kashirsky lit the lamp for his seventh goal of the season moments later firing a shot past Road Warriors netminder Nic Riopel at 4:48. Defensemen Nate Kiser and Dustin Stevenson received assists. Forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien made it 3-1 at 13:04 from Trent Campbell and Kashirsky.
Kashirsky carried the scoring into the final period with his second of the game at 11:32 from O'Brien and forward Jordan Pietrus. Stingrays forward Rob Ricci wrapped up the night's scoring with a shorthanded unassisted empty net goal at 17:24.
Riopel suffered the loss stopping 20 of 24 Stingrays shots. DeMichiel picked up his second straight victory over the Road Warriors kicking away 32 of 33 chances. The Stingrays ended the night 1-for-4 on the power play while the Road Warriors finished 0-for-6.
