Jackals Drop 6-3 Decision to K-Wings

Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Elmira Jackals (19-16-5-0) were doubled up by the Kalamazoo Wings (18-17-2-2) on Sunday evening, 6-3, at Wings Stadium. Kalamazoo broke a 3-3 tie in the third period with three goals.

Justin Taylor wristed a puck in from the slot on the power play at 8:18 of the first period while Trent Daavettila sent in a rebound off of a Darryl Lloyd shot at 2:17 of the second to give Kalamazoo a 2-0 lead.

Elmira battled back in the second for three-straight goals to put the Jackals on top, 3-2. A.J. Perry tipped in a Justin Donati feed on the doorstep at 3:30 on the power play, Josh Brittain wristed in a puck from the left circle off of a rebound from a Brennan Turner shot at 8:50, with Yannick Tifu wristing a puck between the pads of Kalamazoo goaltender Riley Gill 11:20 into the second to put the Jackals in front for the first time in the game.

Aaron Clarke started a K-Wings rally that saw them score four-straight goals by tying the game, 4-4, at 14:28 of the second with a wrister from the left circle that beat Jackals goaltender Daren Machesney stick side. A.J. Thelen scored the game winner with a wrist shot from the top of the right circle 1:07 into the third to make it 4-3, Andrew Fournier drove a puck in from the slot at 10:22 to extend the lead to 5-3, and Patrick Asselin knocked in a rebound at 11:30 to finish the scoring, 6-3.

Machesney dropped to 1-8-0-0 with 35 saves while Gill improved to 8-5 with a 34-save performance.
