Phoenix Rising FC Set to Finish Two-Match Road Swing in Colorado Springs
August 30, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Phoenix Rising FC News Release
Phoenix Rising FC finishes its one-week, two-match road trip in Colorado Springs on Saturday, August 31st, against Switchbacks FC. The match is scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. and will air on Your PHX CW (channel 6 on cable and 61.1 on satellite & over-the-air) as well as ArizonaSports.com.
Rising FC continued its historic form on Tuesday when the club won its 16th-straight match in a 4-2 win over Tacoma Defiance. With the win, Phoenix Rising broke the American professional soccer record for most consecutive wins in a season. Forward Adam Jahn scored a brace, including the game-winner, while teammates Solomon Asante and Junior Flemmings also scored.
Asante's goal gives him 19 on the season, matching the club's all-time single-season scoring record which is currently held by Chris Cortez, who scored 19 goals last season. One more goal would not only break a club record, but it would also break the USL Championship record for most combined goals and assists in a season (32). Asante could also break that record with an assist.
Colorado Springs comes into the match winless in its last five matches (0-3-2). The club has scored just one goal in its last two matches (two losses) but did find the back of the net three times in its last home match, a 3-3 draw with Rio Grande Valley on August 10.
This will be the final match of the season series for both clubs. They last met on March 30, a 2-2 draw at Casino Arizona Field.
In addition, the club has announced it has mutually parted ways with midfielder Devin Vega. Vega spent two seasons in Phoenix making 15 appearances and recording two goals and one assist.
The club will be hosting two official watch parties for the match. One will be at Thirsty Lion in Tempe Marketplace and the other will be held at CAZ Sports Bar at Casino Arizona. Both venues are family friendly and will show the match on Your PHX CW.

Difference Makers
Not only is Phoenix Rising leading USL championship in goals (68), but the club's goal differential is also the best in the league by a wide margin. The club currently has a +43 goal differential, 10 goals better than the next highest total.
Win, Win, Win, No Matter What...
Phoenix Rising collected its 18th win of the season on August 27th. The club is now just one win away from matching a club record for wins in a season. And with nine matches remaining on the schedule, the club is also within striking distance of the USL Championship record for wins in a season (23), set by FC Cincinnati last season.
Goal-Scoring Pace
Phoenix Rising spent most of the season well ahead of its 2018 record-breaking goal-scoring pace. On August 23rd, the team finally broke its single-season record for most goals in a season with its 64th goal of the year. Now with 68 goals, the club has an opportunity to break the USL Championship record for team goals in a season (72), set by FC Cincinnati last season.
Tracking Ahead of Pace
Through the first 25 matches of the season, Phoenix Rising has 59 points. In 2018, the club had 47 points through the first 25 matches of the season en route to setting a club record for points in a season.
Iron Man Watch
Defender Amadou Dia remains the club's minutes leader with 2,070 minutes played. He's followed by Solomon Asante (2,054), Adam Jahn (2,002), Zac Lubin (1,980), and Mustapha Dumbuya (1,783) to round out the top five. 13 players total have logged 1,000 or more minutes this season.
Playoff Watch
Heading into Saturday's match, Phoenix Rising's magic number to clinch a playoff spot is one point. With a win or draw in Colorado Springs, the club would officially clinch a playoff spot.
Home Sweet Home
Phoenix Rising could also potentially clinch a first-round home playoff game with a win against Colorado Springs. In addition to a Rising win, the club would need a Sacramento loss and an Austin loss or draw.
Man on Fire
Solomon Asante now has 32 combined goals and assists on the season, tying a USL Championship record set last year by FC Cincinnati's Emmanuel Ledesma, who recorded 16 goals and 16 assists in the regular season. Asante's 19 goals are six off the league's regular-season record of 25, set in 2018 by Louisville City FC's Cameron Lancaster. His 13 assists are three off the league's regular-season record of 16, set in 2018 by Ledesma.
Dynamic Duo
Solomon Asante and Adam Jahn have 32 combined goals on the season. They are five goals away from breaking the league's regular-season record for most goals scored by two teammates, which is currently 36, set in 2018 by Louisville City FC's Cameron Lancaster (25 goals) and Ilija Ili? (11 goals).
Three's a Party
Solomon Asante, Adam Jahn, and Junior Flemmings have 43 combined goals on the season. The trio needs only two goals to break the league's regular-season record for most goals scored by three teammates, which is currently 44, set in 2018 by Lousiville City FC's Cameron Lancaster (25 goals), Ilija Ili? (11 goals), and George Davis IV (8 goals).
Clean Sheet King
Zac Lubin has 11 clean sheets on the season and is one off tying the club record of 12, set by Carl Woszczynski last season.
