Reno to Host Portland Timbers 2 After Bye Week
August 30, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Reno 1868 FC News Release
RENO, Nev. - Well-rested after a bye week, Reno 1868 FC is set to defend their home pitch tomorrow night against Portland Timbers 2. The boys in blue are 7-2-3 at Greater Nevada Field, including three 4-0 wins in their last seven home games. Portland enters the match 4-5-4 on the road, and just a point behind Orange County for 10th place in the USL's Western Conference.
Reno is returning home after a bye week. Before the bye, Los Azules dropped two in a row to San Antonio and Phoenix. The back-to-back losses were the first time Reno lost consecutive matches in over a calendar year.
Even after consecutive losses, Reno holds onto a top three spot in the western conference. The top four teams in the conference will be guaranteed at least one home playoff match. Reno trails Fresno FC by just three points for the second seed, and hold an eight-point lead over Austin Bold FC in fourth. Reno will play both Fresno and Austin within the next 16 days in what will be two huge matchups.
Portland has never beaten Reno, with 1868 FC holding a 4-0-1 all-time record. Reno came back from down 1-0 after the first half to top Portland 2-1 in Oregon on June 26. Seth Casiple assisted and scored, while JT Marcinkowski had six saves as the duo earned Team of the Week honors for the performance. The win marked the first of a five-game win streak for Reno.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. PT from Greater Nevada Field, and tickets are still available at reno1868fc.com or the Greater Nevada Field ticket office. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free 1868 FC scarf.
