Chester, Pa. (March 9, 2015) - Philadelphia Union have announced that Saturday's 2015 MLS Regular Season Opener against Colorado Rapids averaged a 1.5 television rating, making it the highest-rated Union match in club history. Televised on 6abc, the game peaked during the last 15 minutes of the contest to a 3.2 rating.

"Our passionate and growing fan base combined with continuous improvement of our broadcast production quality obviously is being rewarded with these outstanding ratings increase," CEO and Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz said. "While we already have an established brand name, we continue to grow on a daily basis and it speaks to the hard work of everyone in our organization and our great broadcast partners as we look forward to continued growth."

Previously, the highest-rated match in the club's history came on March 29, 2014 against Montreal Impact. This game was also much higher than the previous best for a season opener, which came in 2011 against Houston Dynamo and averaged a 0.8.

Finally, the game also did extremely well considering its time slot. It was 2.5 times greater than the previous high for a 4 p.m. game.

The Union continue their 2015 season when they travel to take on Real Salt Lake at 9:30 p.m. EST Saturday, March 14. The game will be broadcast on The Comcast Network.
