
Chicago Fire Host Vancouver Whitecaps FC for Opening Day

MEN IN RED WELCOME VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC TO TOYOTA PARK
The Chicago Fire (0-1-0, 0 points) welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps FC (0-1-0, 0 points) to Toyota Park for Opening Day presented by Comcast SportsNet Chicago on Saturday, March 14 at 5 p.m. CT (Comcast SportsNet Chicago/ESPN Deportes 97.5 FM). Tickets for the match are available here and via Ticketmaster. The first 5,000 fans in the stadium will receive a 2015 magnet schedule courtesy of Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
Both sides enter the match after falling in their respective season openers. The Men in Red fell 2-0 to the defending champions LA Galaxy at The StubHub Center on Friday evening. Vancouver opened scoring but fell 3-1 to Toronto FC at BC Place on March 7.
This is the only meeting between the two teams this season. In the lone 2014 contest, the two sides battled to a 0-0 draw at Toyota Park on July 30.
CHICAGO FIRE vs. VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC
- The Fire are 1-2-2 all-time in regular season matches against the Vancouver Whitecaps, including a 1-0-2 record in matches played at Toyota Park.
- The Whitecaps have never scored at Toyota Park. The Men in Red earned a 0-0 draw on May 7, 2011, won 1-0 on July 14, 2012 and drew 0-0 on July 30, 2014.
- Fire midfielder Matthew Watson began his MLS career with the Whitecaps. Acquired by the Fire in a trade with Vancouver on March 5, Watson started 25 of his 36 MLS regular season appearances and tallied one assist over 2,261 minutes in two seasons with the 'Caps. Watson added an assist in Vancouver's first-ever MLS Playoff match in a 2-1 loss on Nov. 1, 2012.
CHICAGO FIRE AND CHICAGO RED STARS HOST DOUBLEHEADER MAY 9 AT TOYOTA PARK
The Chicago Fire will host a doubleheader with the National Women's Soccer League side Chicago Red Stars at Toyota Park on Saturday, May 9. The Fire will kick off against Real Salt Lake at 2 p.m. CT presented by Giordano's (Comcast SportsNet Chicago/ ESPN Deportes 97.5 FM), followed by the Red Stars vs. Boston Breakers match at 4 p.m. CT.
All tickets purchased for the Fire vs. Real Salt Lake match will also include a complimentary, General Admission ticket for the Red Stars game. Single game tickets for Fire matches are available via Ticketmaster and www.Chicago-Fire.com .
The Red Stars, whose roster boasts U.S. internationals Shannon Boxx, Lori Chalupny, Julie Johnston and Christen Press along with Canadian internationals Karina LeBlanc and Melissa Tancredi, will open their third NWSL season against the Boston Breakers who feature U.S. internationals Alyssa Naeher, Kristie Mewis and Cat Whitehill.
CHICAGO FIRE AND ESPN DEPORTES TEAM UP FOR SPANISH-LANGUAGE RADIO BROADCASTS
The Chicago Fire Soccer Club and ESPN Deportes 97.5 FM announced broadcasting agreement for all of the Fire's Major League Soccer matches this season. Match day coverage for all Fire games will include pre-game show, post-game wrap-up and comprehensive play-by-play action. Rodrigo Arana and Raquel Ortiz will serve in play-by-play and analysis roles, respectively.
FIRE RENEW PARTNERSHIP WITH ESPN CHICAGO ((1000)) TO CONTINUE WEEKLY RADIO SHOW
The Chicago Fire Soccer Club has renewed its partnership with ESPN Chicago ((1000)) for two years and will continue to broadcast the live weekly Fire-themed soccer each Saturday at 7 a.m. CT. Returning hosts Fred Huebner and Kevin Egan will be joined in the booth by former U.S. Women's National Team defender Danielle Slaton to anchor "Chicago Fire Weekly" presented by The PrivateBank.
