
Philadelphia Union Blanks New York Red Bulls

CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union beat the New York Red Bulls 1-0 on Saturday night at Red Bull Arena. In the 10th minute, goalkeeper Andre Blake made a critical save after forward John Tolkin's shot curved toward the upper right corner, holding the score at 0-0. In the 25th minute, midfielder Dániel Gazdag netted his 30th career MLS goal from the penalty spot to put the Union in the lead. In the second half, Homegrown defender Nathan Harriel nearly doubled the Union's lead after finding the end of a cross in the box, forcing New York's keeper to make a save in the 57th minute. The Union came away with their first victory on the road in the 2023 MLS season.
The Union are back on the road at Allianz Field on Tuesday, May 9th (8:30 p.m. ET) , where they will face off against Minnesota United FC in the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
