SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Pheasants pelted the Lincoln Satldogs for a 12-3 victory on Wednesday night, posting their 60th win of the year and matching a club record for wins in a season.

The Pheasants are the first team in the American Association with 60 wins this season. It is just the fourth time a team has finished at 60 or more wins in league history. The 2008 squad went 60-36 in the regular season and eventually won the league championship.

The Pheasants held onto first place in the second-half division race, staying at least one-half game ahead of the Wichita Wingnuts.

Gus Milner rocketed a three-run home run to left field in the second inning to give the Pheasants a 3-0 lead, one they would never lose. It was Milner's sixth homer of the year. He finished 2-for-4 with four RBI.

The Pheasants picked up a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth innings each before rallying for five runs in the eighth inning. The Pheasants sent 11 men to the plate tallied five hits, including a two-run double from Beau Torbert. It was Torbert's 148th hit of the season, tying the league record for hits in a season. Jorge Alvarez had 148 knocks in 2007 with El Paso. The double scored Reggie Abercrombie, who plated his 88th run of the year. It matches the franchise and league record, 88 set by Grant Richardson in 2008.

Ryan Rodriguez (12-4) pitched six strong innings to become the first pitcher in the league with 12 wins. His only stumble was a three-run home run allowed to Juan Richardson in the sixth inning. Rodriguez yielded five hits and one walk while striking out two.

Rodriguez gave way to relievers Andrew Pluta and Brandon Rapoza, who combined for three shutout innings of no-hit ball. Collectively the Phesaants' arms faced five batters above the minimum, helped by three double plays from their defense.

Cody Walden (0-1) took his first loss of the year, giving up seven runs - four earned - in six innings.

The Pheasants begin their final series of the year against the St. Paul Saints at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, August 26. It's Thirsty Thursday. Domestic drafts are just $2 all night long.

The Pheasants are members of the American Association, a 10-team independent professional baseball league playing its fifth season this summer. Individual and group ticket information is available by calling (605) 333-0179. Fans can also visit the Pheasants at www.sfpheasants.com.
