LINCOLN, Neb. - Cristian Guerrero cracked four hits, and Mark Michael turned in a quality start in the Sioux Falls Pheasants' 8-6 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs in the series finale on Thursday night.

The Pheasants, who won a road series for the third time this season, touched Lincoln starter Wade Mackey (6-2) for seven runs and 10 hits in the first four innings. Cristian Guerrero opened the scoring in the second innings with an RBI single and Nick Judkins hit into a fielder's choice to score Guerrero. It was Judkins' first professional RBI.

Judkins collected his second RBI as part of a four-run rally in the third inning. The Lincoln defense could not convert a potential double play on Trevor Lawhorn's ground ball to third base, and Jared Bolden scored to break a 2-2 tie. Jake Taylor and Al Quintana also had RBI hits, and the Pheasants built a 6-2 lead.

Michael (7-7) allowed seven hits but just three runs, two earned, in six innings for his second win this month. He walked three and struck out one.

After Lincoln scored a run in the third inning, Guerrero cracked his third hit in the fourth inning, an RBI single, for a 7-3 lead. The run proved valuable when Lincoln's Stephen Holdren launched a three-run home run in the seventh to pull the Saltdogs within one run, 7-6.

In the eighth the Pheasants notched an insurance run. Guerrero doubled with two outs and came home when Lawhorn smashed a line drive off third baseman Brian Pound's glove.

Kyle Mertins tossed a scoreless 1 1/3 innings before Pheasants closer Alan DeRatt pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his fourth save of the year.

The Pheasants return home for a series with the Sioux City Explorers, their final home contests of the year. The three-game series begins at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, August 24 at Sioux Falls Stadium. It is the last Friday Night Fireworks postgame show. It is "Stampede Night." New Sioux Falls Stampede hockey coach Cary Eades will be on hand along with several Stampede players.
