SIOUX FALLS- Saturday night was déjà vu all over again.

For the second straight game, the Sioux Falls Pheasants' bullpen gave away a lead against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, suffering a 6-3 defeat at Sioux Falls Stadium.

Jesse Hoorelbeke's three-run home run highlighted a four-run seventh inning for the RedHawks, spoiling a solid outing from Pheasants Starter Chris Salberg.

"Chris threw the ball great," said manager Steve Shirley. "His back was tightening up out there so that's why I had to go get him. Then they got that big inning and we lose. But frankly, we didn't do anything to win that game."

In his second start since returning to the rotation on July 25, Salberg threw 6 1/3 innings while allowing one run on three hits in a no-decision. Salberg exited after retiring the first batter in the seventh.

Reliever Ryan Grant took over and gave up a double to John Wagle, then walked the next two batters to load the bases. Kyle Nichols' sacrifice fly cut the Pheasants lead to one run before Hoorelbeke dealt the big blow to Sioux Falls.

Grant (0-2) took the loss, allowing four runs on two hits in two-thirds of an inning.

RedHawks starter Alex Caldera (7-3) kept the Pheasants offense in check for seven innings, giving up three runs on four hits while walking five and striking out seven.

Donnie Smith collected his second save of the season with a scoreless ninth.

The Pheasants scored all three of their runs in the second. Hunter Jobes smashed a two-run double high off the left field wall, and Henry Contreras followed with a single to bring home Jobes, giving Sioux Falls a 3-0 advantage.

The RedHawks cut the deficit to two runs in the third on a two-out, RBI double from Zach Penprase.

Following a lead-off double from Reggie Abercrombie in the third, Caldera did not allow another hit. The Pheasants mustered just two hits in the final seven innings.

Abercrombie added two hits for Sioux Falls, finishing 6-for-14 in the series.

The Pheasants fall to (33-40) with the loss.

Following an off day Sunday, the Pheasants look to gain ground on wild card-leading St. Paul Saints in a three-game series, starting at 7:05 p.m. on Monday, August 1, at Sioux Falls Stadium. Tickets are available by visiting the Pheasants' box office in person or going online to www.sfpheasants.com.
