BURLINGTON, IA - The Peoria Chiefs tied the game twice and beat the Burlington Bees 4-3 in 12 innings on Sunday as Luis Perez homered in the top of the 12th. The win moves the Chiefs to 15-8 in the second half and 52-40 overall, a season-best 12 games over .500.

"Rob (Kaminsky) was very sharp early, a good mix of pitches and pitched inside for effect," said manager Joe Kruzel. "He induced some soft contact and our bullpen pitched well. Good defense and good pitching leads to this win. Give the kids credit, on a hot muggy day they hung in there in a long one and got it done."

The game was scoreless into the bottom of the fifth before the Bees struck first against Kaminsky. Ryan Dalton walked with one out and Tyler Palmer's sacrifice attempt went for a bunt single to put two on. A wild pitch moved both runners up and on a grounder to third, Steve Bean appeared to get the tag down in time but Dalton was called safe as Burlington took a 1-0 lead.

The Chiefs tied the game in the seventh against reliever Ben Carlson. Bean doubled off the wall in right and moved to third on a deep fly out. With runners on the corners, Michael Schulze tied the game with a sacrifice fly to deep left.

Burlington went back on top in the bottom of the seventh. Eric Aguilera singled and Dalton walked again before Steve Sabatino took over on the mound for Kaminsky. The Chiefs didn't get an out on a sacrifice bunt attempt as Burlington loaded the bases. With one out, Ranyelmy Mendoza put the Bees up 2-1 with a sacrifice fly before Sabatino got out of the inning.

The Chiefs again tied the game in the eighth. Justin Ringo led off with a single to left against Cole Swanson and he moved to second on a ground out. Bean beat out an infield single to second and Ringo scored as Kody Eaves threw wild to first base.

The game stayed tied into the 12th before the Chiefs took their first lead of the game. With one out, Ringo singled to left against Alex Blackford. Luis Perez drilled a two-run homer out of the stadium to left field for a 4-2 Chiefs lead. The homer is the second for Perez this season and the Chiefs third of the series. Burlington got to within a run in the bottom of the inning as Cambric Moye hit a solo home run off Zach Loraine but a flyout ended the game and gave the Chiefs a 4-3 lead.

"We scored two runs to tie with good base-running (Ringo) and a good at-bat (Schulze) for a sac fly," said Kruzel. "We didn't get frustrated early on some missed opportunities and hung in there to give us a chance. Then Perez ran into one in the 12th and we got the win."

Kaminsky allowed two runs on three hits over six innings plus two batters in the seventh. He struck out three, walked two and threw a wild pitch. Sabatino allowed one hit over three shutout innings with one walk and two strikeouts. Josh Lucas (1-0) earned his first win with two shutout innings, three strikeouts and three hits allowed. Loraine picked up his eighth save with one run allowed on one hit over one inning.
