
Peralta to Arizona, Marzilli to Mobile

MOBILE, AL -- The Mobile BayBears and Arizona Diamondbacks have announced that on Sunday, June 1, 2014 outfielder David Peralta had his contract purchased from the Arizona Diamondbacks and joined the big league club at Chase Field. On Monday, June 2, 2014 the two teams announced that outfielder Evan Marzilli has been promoted from Class A Advanced Visalia to Double-A Mobile.
Peralta made his Major League debut Sunday afternoon for the Diamondbacks against the Cincinnati Reds. The Carabobo, Venezuela native recorded two hits in four trips to the plate. In 53 games with the BayBears this season, Peralta batted .297 with six home runs and 46 RBI.
Peralta, who was a pitcher in the Cardinals organization before suffering a left shoulder injury, is in his second year as a member of the D-backs organization. At the start of the 2013 season he was playing with the Amarillo Sox of the American Association, an independent league. The D-backs signed him and sent him to Class A Advanced Visalia where he finished the 2013 campaign batting .346 with eight home runs and 42 RBI with the Rawhide.
Both RHP Chase Anderson and Peratla began the 2014 season with the BayBears and made the jump straight to the Majors from Mobile.
Marzilli joins the BayBears from the Class A Advanced Visalia. This season with 52 games with the Rawhide, Marzilli batted .244 with five homers and 18 RBI. The Fall River, Massachusetts native batted .250 with three home runs and 50 RBI in 136 games with Visalia in 2013.
