
Peoria Riverman win their league-leading 46th game of the season

GREENVILLE, SC â The Greenville Grrrowl dropped a 3-2 decision to the Peoria Rivermen in front of 4,139 at the BI-LO Center Thursday night. It was the league-leading 46th win of the season for Peoria.
The Grrrowl opened the scoring when KRZYSZTOF WIECKOWSKI beat Rivermen goaltender Alfie Michaud at 5:09 of the first period to give Greenville a 1-0 lead. Darren Clark tied the game, 1-1, at 7:46 and the teams were tied after 20 minutes.
The Rivermen took a 2-1 lead when Trevor Baker beat DAMIAN RHODES at 7:07 of the second period. Then, WIECKOWSKI tipped a PAUL FLACHE slapshot during a powerplay to tie the game, 2-2. Ryan Finnerty scored the game-winning goal as Peoria took a 3-2 lead, which they would not relinquish, with 8:33 left in the second period.
DAMIAN RHODES stopped 29 of 32 shots, and the Greenville Grrrowl were outshot 32-22. Greenville continues to lead Augusta by 7 points for the 5th and final playoff spot in the Southeast Division. The Grrrowl travel to Georgia to face the Augusta Lynx tomorrow (Friday) night at 7:35 PM (Newsradio 1330 & 950, WORD). The team returns home to host Richmond Saturday night at 7:35 PM.
