Storm Announces First Round Playoff Dates
March 20, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Toledo Walleye News Release
(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the East Coast Hockey League today announced the team's first round playoff dates, which vary somewhat depending on the ultimate opponent for the Storm. The Northwest Division Semi-Final will pit the division's number one seed against the number four seed and the number two seed against the number three seed in a best of five series.
As of this date, Toledo could face any one of three different opponents in the first playoff round: the Lexington Men O'War, the Cincinnati Cyclones, or the Johnstown Chiefs. Because of scheduling conflicts at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, if the Storm were to face the Men O'War, all first round games would be played at the Toledo Sports Arena.
Unless otherwise announced, the start times for Storm home playoff games will remain the same as they were during the regular season: Monday through Thursday (7:00 p.m.); Friday and Saturday (7:30 p.m.); and Sunday (3:00 p.m.). Start times for games played in the opponents' buildings will be announced at a later date.
The first two rounds in the Kelly Cup Playoffs, the division semi-final and the division final, are best of five series. The winner of the Northwest Division Final (i.e. the second round of the playoffs) will face the winner of the Northeast Division Final in a best of seven series, i.e. the Northern Conference Championship. The winner of that series will then face the winner of the Southern Conference Championship in the best of seven Kelly Cup Final.
