Huntsville Havoc News Release

HUNTSVILLE - All good things must come to an end.

The Huntsville Havoc carried a six-game win streak in to Saturday afternoon's game against Peoria. The Rivermen held the Havoc scoreless until the last five minutes and held on to end that streak 3-1 and split the weekend series.

The loss also ended the eight-game unbeaten streak of Huntsville goaltender Max Milosek.

"The team played another hard-fought game, but we ultimately came up short," said Havoc Head Coach Glenn Detulleo. "I was proud of the effort from our players, having played three games in two and a half days. They showed a lot of resilience and put themselves in position to win."

Peoria's first goal came at the hands of former University of Alabama in Huntsville winger Jack Prince, who scored five minutes in to the first period. After two games with the Rivermen in his SPHL debut, he already has two goals and an assist.

Both teams were scoreless in the middle frame and Peoria doubled its lead 3:33 into the final period. The Havoc were working toward fighting out of another two-goal hole when Ryan Salkeld redirected a shot from Alec Brandrup with just over three minutes remaining, cutting the lead in half. Peoria put the game out of reach 30 seconds later with an unassisted Austin Vieth tally and taking the match 3 to 1.

The game highlights, including some outstanding saves by Milosek, can be found on the Havoc YouTube channel.

The Rivermen outshot Huntsville 25 to 23 and neither team could take advantage of the powerplay despite three opportunities for each side.

These two teams will face off again next weekend in Peoria for a pair of games in a three-in-three. The middle game of the series will be against the Quad City Storm in Moline, Illinois. It will be the last time Peoria and Huntsville will play each other in this regular season.

Next Home Game

The Havoc are back at home to start the new year with a weekend series against the Pensacola Ice Flyers. On Friday, January 11, Huntsville hosts the Ice Flyers for Super Hero Night at the VBC. Fans can come dressed as their favorite super hero and compete in a costume contest for prizes from the Havoc and Best Buy. The next night is Youth Jersey Night with free replica jerseys for the first 1200 kids 12 and under through the doors. The puck drops both nights at 7 p.m.
